Edge sealing

Edge sealing consists of an applied (spray painted) liquid and flexible rubber skin, which after curing still appears flexible, as well as allowing noise to penetrate the foam. Edge sealing is typically used in connection with pumps, compressors, or mounting in other special humid environments.

Protection against accidental water absorption

Edge sealing is often used in humid environments to protect materials from accidental water and moisture absorption. At B6, we are specialists in edge sealing, and offer, in situations where the edges of the material are also desired to be moisture and water repellent, to treat the edges with an edge seal. The moisture and water repellent seal ensures that the material is kept dry.

Edge Sealing

At B6-Industri, we offer edge sealing applied with a type of liquid and flexible rubber skin. This rubber skin is made of foam material with excellent protective qualities, making it suitable as a seal between surfaces or as a joint protector for various equipment such as pumps and compressors.

This specific sealing process involves spray-painting the material along the sides of the object or surface you want to seal. After the application of the liquid and flexible foam material, it undergoes a curing process that leaves a relatively flexible material, allowing noise to penetrate the foam and be absorbed.

Spray Painting vs Rubber Strips

Edge sealing with spray paint offers several advantages compared to using rubber strips for the same purpose. Spray paint, with its liquid and flexible consistency, provides a tighter seal than what can be achieved with rubber strips. The paint can penetrate even the smallest cracks and crevices.

The smooth surface provided by spray paint can also protect against corrosion, making it suitable for pumps and compressors used in humid environments or in contact with certain chemicals.

In comparison to rubber strips, the spray-painted seal is easier and faster to install, able to seal even the most inaccessible areas. Additionally, this type of sealing is easier to repair and maintain.

Additional Benefits of Edge Sealing

There are further advantages to using this type of edge sealing. The liquid and flexible rubber skin is UV-resistant, protecting against the harmful effects of UV radiation and surface degradation. This, of course, makes the material suitable for outdoor use.

This type of seal also acts as a self-extinguishing coating, aimed at minimizing or preventing the spread of fire. This makes the material a safe choice for use with pumps and compressors that generate heat and friction.

Protection Against Water

Furthermore, this edge sealing is moisture and water repellent, making it suitable for outdoor and highly humid environments. Such edge sealing protects materials and equipment from unintended water absorption and moisture penetration, significantly extending their durability and lifespan.

At B6-Industri, we specialize in edge sealing and can help you find the best solution for water and moisture repellent sealing, ensuring optimal protection for your materials and equipment.

Edge Sealing of Acoustic Materials

As you may know, at B6-Industri, we offer various acoustic materials for different applications, and we also provide edge sealing services for these types of materials. A spray-painted seal enhances the acoustic performance of these materials by preventing unintended resonance and sound leakage, resulting in improved sound insulation and noise reduction.

When combined with acoustic materials, this type of sealing can also help prevent water and moisture from causing irreversible damage. A water-repellent seal is particularly relevant in rooms with water, moisture, or steam, and it is also ideal for outdoor use, preventing rain or moisture from penetrating.
